Everest needs no introduction, the ultimate mountain flanked by the majestic guardians of Lhotse (8,516m) and Nuptse (7,861m). Everything up here rides in a different league, the horizon is dominated by more mountains over 7,000m than you can shake a stick at.
The turquoise goddess of Cho Oyu (8,188m), the Nepali version of the Matterhorn in Ama Dablam (6,812m) and Mighty Makalu (8,485m) are all on show. It is not only the mountains in this region that make it so spectacular, the Khumbu region has its own highly rich culture in the Sherpa people and the very well-developed teahouses pepper just about every valley. Put simply, the Everest region is unbeatable.
